Katelyn was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. She enjoys making functional, wheel-thrown pottery.

Katelyn has been teaching and making pottery in the Wilmington community for the past two years. She started at the Leland Cultural Arts center in 2023, as their first Ceramics Artist in Residence. Following this residency, she began teaching wheel throwing, hand building, and decorating classes at the LCAC.

Continuing to build connections, Katelyn began working as a ceramics instructor at the Cameron Art Museum (CAM) in 2024. While continuing her degree at UNCW, Katelyn explored many mediums; such as printmaking, sculpture, and drawing.

Post graduation, Katelyn is pursuing ceramics full-time. She currently works as a studio tech at Orange Street Pottery- mixing glazes & clay for students and staff. She continues to teach at the CAM & LCAC, and has begun new work in the Wilmington community- teaching pottery at DREAMS Center for Arts Education. In March 2025, Katelyn was nominated to serve as a board member on the Coastal Carolina Clay Guild as the Events Coordinator.

“I have been making pottery wholeheartedly since 2021. I make most of my work using the potter’s wheel, but utilize hand building techniques.

Before ceramics, I had a strong 2D background in painting and printmaking (which I still enjoy as a hobby). I have weaved these techniques into my work, but will continue to explore new and varied approaches to decorating with altering, carving, slip trailing, and inlay. 

I strive to improve my craft through diligence and consistency. I’m trying to have more fun with the pots I am making, and enjoying the small moments in the making process, to feel more connected to the clay, and my environment.”

Katelyn plans to continue sharing her love for pottery with her hometown, and focus on making work she is proud of.
