Handbuilding: Coil Vases
July 26th, 10AM-1PM CAMERON ART MUSEUM
Spend a day learning the fundamentals of hand building pottery in a focused, small-group workshop centered on coil-built vases. Participants will practice joining coils, controlling wall thickness, and refining surface texture. Guidance is provided at each stage, from initial form to simple finishing touches. By the end of the day, each participant will complete one or more small vases ready for drying and later firing. This workshop is suitable for beginners or those looking to revisit core skills in a practical, hands-on setting.
Wheel Throwing: Mugs
August 29th & 30th 10AM-1PM CAMERON ART MUSEUM
This two-day pottery workshop introduces participants to making wheel-thrown mugs. On day one, instruction focuses on centering clay, opening, and pulling walls to form a consistent cylinder. Day two covers trimming and finishing the works created on the previous day. This includes refining the foot, pulling handles, and demonstrating proper joining techniques to ensure durability. All materials and tools are provided. Beginner or intermediate students are welcome. No prior experience is required.
Monotype Printing with Underglaze on Clay
Spend a day in the studio exploring surface decoration on clay through monotype printing with underglaze. This workshop introduces a simple transfer process that allows you to draw or paint on a smooth surface and print the image onto leather-hard clay. Participants will build a small set of tiles or forms and apply multiple prints to test composition and color interaction. No prior experience is required. Tools and underglazes are provided. Finished pieces will be fired after the workshop and available for pickup later. Expect small group instruction and individual feedback throughout the session day
